he Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, has signed an MoU with the University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies (UCAES), Bunso, E/R. The MoU seeks to create an affiliation between KNUST and UCAES in order to encourage academic excellence in the fields of Agriculture and Environmental Studies.
Professor William Otoo Ellis, the Vice-Chancellor, in an opening address welcomed the delegation from UCAES and expressed his joy to have them on board. He remarked that the day was historic as he had been looking forward to partnering the Institution from 2009 when it was established. He thus hoped the collaboration between the two institutions would be to their mutual benefit.
Professor Kwame Serbeh-Yiadom, the Rector of UCAES, pointed out that there was the need to entrench the University’s philosophy of Food Production and Environmental Protection into the minds of the society by admitting students into the University to read programmes in these areas. He further stated that KNUST has been magnanimous in the admission processes of the institution and has always been available for directions. He said that the University College was not under any pressure to have a large population; rather the University sought to provide quality education.
Professor Obiri Danso, a member of the delegation, said he was happy that the University College (UCAES) could become a centre of excellence in Agric and Environmental issues.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the delegation from UCAES and promised to offer any assistance to push the institution forward. Also in attendance was Dr. Francis Emmanuel Awortwi, the Dean of Students of UCAES.
